ABOUT LUCY BROWN.
Lucy Brown is a typographic artist, graphic designer and art director. Lucy also teaches design and offers design consultancy to small and start-up businesses. In 2009, after training and working in London, Sydney and Tel Aviv, Lucy set up her own design studio in a converted stable building in Cheshire. Prior to setting up the studio Lucy worked with Oded Ezer, as a graphic designer for the Guardian newspaper and the Institute of Contemporary Arts and as an art director for M&C Saatchi in Australia. Lucy has a first class honours degree in Graphic Design: Typography from the London College of Communication and is a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers. Working both independently and collaboratively, she has a multi-disciplinary process which is applied to both personal and commercial projects.
Post-graduation Lucy has worked with the Chase in Manchester, run a week-long poster workshop at the LCC with Yasha Roshov and exhibited as part of Emerge, the graduate showcase of the London Design Festival. Her work has also been published in St Bride Library's Ultrabold and the Atlas Journal. ABOUT GREYCAINE.
Between 2006 and 2009 Lucy worked under the name of Greycaine. In 1909, the brother of her great-grandmother set up Greycaine Book Manufacturing Company with Ralph Hall Caine. They had their first printing press at 30-33 Cross St in Islington, London and later moved to Watford to what is now the Greycaine Industrial Estate. If you are interested in valuing the Greycaine books on your shelves or researching about Greycaine Book Manufacturing Company, please get in touch. We have several images and a full printed history of the press which we happily share with those who are interested.
